Xiaomi has plenty of products planned for Lei Jun's annual speech tomorrow, including a new version of the Pad 5 Pro. Announced a year ago today, the original Pad 5 Pro has an 11-inch display, a Snapdragon 870 chipset and a 50 MP primary camera, plus an 8,600 mAh battery. Based on the Xiaomi has shared so far, the new Pad 5 Pro will be a larger alternative than last year's Pad 5 Pro. There are a few other changes too, although there may be just as many similarities between the two models.
Specifically, Xiaomi has included a third rear-facing camera on the new Pad 5 Pro, with the company bringing across the Xiaomi 12 series' camera housing design. Incidentally, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will also adopt this camera design, with a large top lens positioned above two considerably smaller and vertically arranged sensors. Conversely, the new Pad 5 Pro will have a 50 MP primary camera, likely the same sensor as the original Pad 5 Pro.
Additionally, this year's Pad 5 Pro will have a display that measures 12.4-inches across. While Xiaomi has not provided any other details about the Pad 5 Pro yet, the tablet has already turned up on Geekbench as the Xiaomi 22081281AC. As the screenshots below show, the tablet relies on the Snapdragon 870 and 8 GB of RAM, mirroring its predecessor. The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 will debut in China on August 11. According to @stufflistings, Xiaomi plans to release a new tablet globally within the next few months as well; @stufflistings cannot guarantee that this will be the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4, though.
