More details are seemingly appearing in regard to the rumored Xiaomi Pad 6, Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, and now even a Xiaomi Pad 6 Ultra model. However, it’s likely the latter tablet in that list is simply a 5G variant of the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, which had already appeared in recent leaks. It could be that Xiaomi simply wants to differentiate the Pad 6 Pro and Pad 6 Pro 5G models in more marketing-friendly terms, with the purported Pad 6 Ultra possibly offering nothing more than the increased connectivity capabilities.
Supposed information about the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is much more revealing, and this time around there doesn’t seem to be any room for MediaTek’s Dimensity SoCs, flagship or otherwise. According to Digital Chat Station, the entry-level tablet will sport an “sm8250ac”, which is the model number for the Snapdragon 870. This would make some sense, as the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro utilized the same chipset. This would leave the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro with the “sm8350”, otherwise known as the Snapdragon 888.
This might be a bit of a letdown for those who were hoping for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the Xiaomi Pad 6 range, but utilizing a Snapdragon 888 would help keep the price tag competitive. Also, concerns in regard to the infamous heating issues this SoC has been associated with could be dismissed here, as the Xiaomi Pad 6 Android-based tablet would have a greater surface area for heat dissipation than a typical SD888-powered smartphone.
The same source also mentions a 2.5K, 120-Hz capable display for the regular Xiaomi Pad 6, which would be the same screen specs that were found in the Pad 5 range. But there is an exciting teaser for the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, with the leaker mentioning “a new large screen, new mold, new design”. It’s not specific, but it does appear that Xiaomi is going to deliver considerable upgrades with the Pro model. It’s believed that the Xiaomi Pad 6 range could make an appearance by August of this year, which is clearly based on the Pad 5 lineup release date of August 2021.
