Xiaomi 12 Ultra leak reveals renders and specs of the July-bound Galaxy S22 Ultra rival
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to make its debut sometime in July. While most details and images of the flagship phone have been rather speculative, a new leak has now provided the first solid look at Xiaomi's most ambitious smartphone yet, likely positioned to rival Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The leaked images are courtesy of incredibly reliable leaker OnLeaks and the Xiaomi 12 Ultra can be expected to look identical in the flesh. The biggest design talking point here is, of course, the phone's massive circular camera module. The renders show four lenses housed within that module: a 50 MP main camera, 48 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and 48 MP periscope lens are listed, but the last of the quartet remains unknown. There's an obvious Leica stamp as well, showing off Xiaomi's new collaboration with the German camera company.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to sport a 6.6-inch QHD+ 120 Hz AMOLED with HDR10+ support. That display, curved as is the norm with recent Xiaomi flagship phones, is expected to reach a peak brightness of 1700 nits, and also houses a nifty 20 MP selfie camera within a hole punch.
Other features of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra include stereo speakers, a ceramic back, an aluminum frame, and 234 g weight—just slightly heavier than the 229 g Galaxy S22 Ultra, and lighter than the 240 g iPhone 13 Pro Max. Those phones will be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra's closest rivals and it looks set to have a matching price tag, supposedly around US$1350.
