Xiaomi 12 Ultra to be first Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 phone as launch details surface
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be Xiaomi's most ambitious smartphone yet and is expected to debut next month in China. While Xiaomi is yet to announce a date for the flagship's launch, word on the grapevine has now provided some insight into that.
According to Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will make its debut in early July. The leaker goes on the confirm that this event is scheduled to happen in the first nine days of the month. While the leaker doesn't say more, public opinion leans towards the event being held either on July 5 or July 7, with Xiaomi supposedly preferring Tuesday or Thursday media events. That is conjecture, of course.
Reportedly, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be the first phone to launch in China with the new Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. After the flagship makes its debut in early July, its expected to be followed by a phone from Realme, then models from OnePlus, iQOO, and Nubia. Motorola is also expected to launch a premium phone with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 next month.
While the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will likely be the first phone to benefit from Xiaomi's collaboration with Leica, the source claims the phone will not sport the red, Coke-style Leica logo seen on concept renders of the phone so far. Supposedly, though, there will "be a big surprise on the camera watermark". Or something in that vein.
