Xiaomi rushed its 12 and 12 Pro to the market in December 2021, just so it could say it was among the first to launch new Android smartphones with the then-latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship processor. Now, it is said to be doing the same with the next-gen 13 series, just with even more urgency this time.
The "13 series" (or "flagships starting with M", as the 12 series are those starting with L) is once again projected to debut (if only in China) as early as November 2022, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in tow. This new line of speculation has arisen thanks to Digital Chat Station's new claims that the smartphones had reached an advanced testing stage, one involving "packaging" as well as more tests of their new MIUI builds based on Android 13.
Therefore, the new range of top-end phones might indeed be on the way. On the other hand, the knowledgeable leaker hints that only 2 of the new devices planned by Xiaomi will make it to this super-early launch: a 13 and a 13 Pro, from the sound of it.
The star of this show could be a "large-screen" variant with the OEM's latest "2K" panel. Not much is known about this screen, although it is thought that it might have a next-gen "base material" (Samsung E6 as opposed to E5, perhaps?), have a central punch-hole for a selfie camera and fail to get over Xiaomi's penchant for curvature.
