Xiaomi 12S Pro is slated to launch with faster charging than the 12 Ultra
Xiaomi is projected to launch a 12S series as late-year refreshes of its current 2022 flagship smartphone series. However, it is also set to debut the most premium variant of the existing line first. However, it is not expected to improve on its predecessor in terms of charging speed.
The OEM just added a list of new devices that charge at 67W to the official 3C database, and the 12 Ultra was reportedly on it. Now, Xiaomi has certified some more new 5G smartphones, one of which (the 2206122SC) supports 120W instead.
It is thought to be a version of the 12S Pro (or "L2S") that is powered by the new top-end Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The supposedly upcoming flagship may also have an alternative SKU (L2M) with the Dimensity 9000 instead, also said to lack the 120W charging spec.
Therefore, it seems the 12 Ultra - for which yet more cases have allegedly leaked out again, reportedly found on the first-party vendor/crowdfunding platform Youpin this time - might miss out on the fastest power standard Xiaomi can offer, even though another device called a Pro will not.
On the other hand, the prospect of somewhat slower charging might support other rumors of a ceramic unibody or cutting-edge specs that are incompatible with excess heat for the Ultra; this was Xiaomi's rationale for leaving 120W charging out of the inaugural Mix Fold, after all.
