ASUS ROG Phone 6 and Xiaomi 12 Ultra launch dates could clash with teasers rumoured to start next week
It is no secret that Xiaomi plans to unveil a new flagship smartphone next month. However, new rumours suggest that ASUS and Xiaomi could be set to clash with each other, with the former having already announced the launch date of the ROG Phone 6. To recap, Xiaomi has billed its next flagship smartphone release as a 'new era of mobile photography', a bold claim that it reinforced with further assertions that the device would be a 'defining moment' for the smartphone market.
Setting the hyperbole aside, Tech Going reports that the device in question will be the 12 Ultra, Xiaomi's first Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-backed smartphone. Purportedly, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will arrive on July 5, well over a year after the Mi 11 Ultra debuted. Prices for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra have not leaked yet, but the device is expected to utilise expensive materials, such as a ceramic back.
If Tech Going is correct, Xiaomi will begin teasing the 12 Ultra's release from June 28 onwards. Considering that no other leakers have reported this yet, we would recommend treating it with some scepticism for the time being. Also, there is a good chance that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be a Chinese exclusive. So far, the likes of Xiaomiui have not discovered any global model numbers for the device, unlike the Mi 11 Ultra. Unfortunately, this would not be the first time that Xiaomi has revealed a device on its global social media channels, such as the Mi Mix Fold, only to sell it in China.
