Xiaomi Smart Band 7: First update for new fitness tracker arrives following global launch

Xiaomi has just presented the Smart Band 7 globally, details of which we have provided in a dedicated launch article. However, the company has also started rolling out an update for Chinese models, which it announced in May. For reference, Xiaomi has only announced the non-NFC model globally; the NFC version remains a Chinese exclusive with no guarantee of a release outside Xiaomi's home market.

Regardless, software version 1.16.0.7 offers an insight into what future global owners should expect to see on the Smart Band 7 once it starts shipping. Presumably, Xiaomi will offer software version 1.16.0.7, or an equivalent, as a day 1 patch for global units. Incidentally, resellers started sending out global models before Xiaomi formally announced them, suggesting that Xiaomi and its partners have stock on hand and ready to go.

According to ITHome, software version 1.16.0.7 introduces three new features to the Smart Band 7. Specifically, Xiaomi has added an option to adjust the fitness tracker's vibration intensity within settings, as well as the option to tap a watch face's complication to open the app to which it is linked. Separately, Xiaomi mentions that the Smart Band 7 will now remind you about your health goal, mirroring functionality that Apple offers on its Watch Series smartwatches.

Moreover, Xiaomi has bundled half a dozen fixes with software version 1.16.0.7, outlined below. Software version 1.16.0.7 is rolling out in China now and is available to download through the Mi Fit app. For reference, Xiaomi has not mentioned yet when this update will be coming to global models.

• Fix the problem of restarting the recovery after deleting the built-in watch face
• Fix the abnormal display of the text part of the alarm clock
• Fix the night mode, after leaving the payment code page, the brightness will not be restored
• Optimise the fluency of the system (it will be continuously optimised according to the actual situation of the equipment)
• Optimise some restart problems
• Optimise player-related issues
