Xiaomi Smart Band 7 global launch nears as reseller accidentally sends out unreleased unit
It appears that Xiaomi is close to launching the Smart Band 7 internationally, having announced the fitness tracker last month in China. While Xiaomi has not announced a new release date yet, people have started receiving global units. Purportedly, global units have been available in Poland since late May, noted by the lack of Chinese text on the box.
Subsequently, it has emerged that at least one reseller on AliExpress has been shipping the same global model. Strangely, Redditor u/musicalrider83 claims to have ordered a Chinese model, only to receive a global version instead. Unsurprisingly, the global model ships with multiple languages installed, albeit with no other obvious changes from the Chinese model.
To recap, Xiaomi offers the Smart Band 7 in NFC and non-NFC variants, both with 1.62-inch displays that output at 192 x 490 pixels. Unfortunately, this year's Xiaomi Smart Band missed out on a GPS module, which could have worked well with the fitness tracker's 120 exercise modes.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has registered the global version of the Smart Band 7 with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore. Seemingly, all signs point towards Xiaomi releasing the Smart Band 7 internationally soon, even though global units are clearly already ready to go and with resellers.
