Xiaomi Band 7: Price of NFC model and design leaks ahead of anticipated June release
iGeekPhone has uncovered a retail listing that appears to be of the Band 7, Xiaomi's next-generation fitness tracker. Reportedly, the retail listing is of the Band 7's NFC variant, which Xiaomi tends to release globally a while after the non-NFC model comes to market. Regardless, the design shown should apply to all Band 7 models if it is legitimate, not just the NFC-enabled version.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to verify the photo's authenticity yet. Hence, we would recommend treating it with some scepticism until a higher resolution version emerges. The design does not look outrageous or photoshopped, with the Band 7 broadly resembling its predecessor. Also, the larger display is in line with earlier leaks from MIUI code, which we discussed in March. For reference, the Band 7 is expected to have a 40 pixel wider and 4 pixels taller display than its predecessor.
It remains to be seen whether the Band 7 will have thinner display bezels than the Mi Band 6, though. Moreover, the price displayed matches the equivalent Mi Band 6, sold as the Mi Smart Band 6 in China. Although CNY 279 currently converts to approximately US$40 and €38, the non-NFC version of the Mi Band 6 launched for €45 in the Eurozone, currently worth nearly CNY 320.
In other words, Xiaomi's Chinese prices do not directly convert into other currencies. Reputedly, Xiaomi will launch the Band 7 as soon as next month. Many other details remain unknown at this stage, apart from the possibility that Xiaomi could finally equip its budget fitness tracker with a GPS module.
