A US retailer has outlined the Forerunner 955, one of Garmin's upcoming smartwatch series. Not only has the retailer provided specifications about Solar and non-Solar models, it has also published numerous marketing images. For some reason, Garmin has sought to equip the Forerunner 955 with a touchscreen display.

A US retailer has revealed two versions of the Forerunner 955, the long-awaited successor to the Forerunner 945. While details about the Forerunner 955 have surfaced previously, Beach Camera has inadvertently leaked official images and specifications about the Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 955 Solar. Unsurprisingly, the pair carry the SKUs GRFR955WH and GRFR955SWH, respectively.

According to the two Beach Camera listings, the Forerunner 955 measures 45.7 x 45.7 x 15.2 mm, within which Garmin has included a small touchscreen display. For context, the Forerunner 945 measures 47 x 47 x 13.7 mm, making the newer smartwatch slightly smaller but also thicker than its predecessor. Additionally, the Forerunner 955 weighs 53 g, approximately two-thirds that of the Fenix 7.

As the leaked images show, the touchscreen has full colour support and is surrounded by rather thick bezels. Still, Garmin has included multi-band GPS, 32 GB of storage and built-in maps with satellite navigation support. Moreover, Garmin promises up to 15 days of battery life in smartwatch mode for the regular Forerunner 955, which expands to 20 days with the Solar model. Alternatively, the Forerunner 955 series should last up to 42 hours in GPS mode, or 8:30 hours if you use All-Systems GNSS mode plus Multi-Band with music.

Furthermore, Garmin has included improved health reports, training tips and safety features, such as incident detection. Unfortunately, it is unclear how much either Forerunner 955 costs, nor from when they will be available. Presumably, the accidental publication of two SKUs suggests that Garmin is close to announcing the Forerunner 955 series, though.
