It seems that Garmin has certified the Venu SQ 2 with the FCC, a smartwatch series that will join recent releases like the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 series. Incidentally, references to the Venu SQ 2 were last seen in April, when a Garmin authorised distributor mentioned the Venu SQ 2, along with several other smartwatches that Garmin has since announced.
As Gadgets & Wearables notes, Garmin has registered IPH-04390 and IPH-A4390, seemingly two versions of the same device. Based on the FCC's documentation, both variants have the same 205 mAh battery, which carries the model number 361-00136-20. As far as we can tell, Garmin will only equip one variant with Wi-Fi connectivity, suggesting that there could be a Venu SQ 2 and Venu SQ 2 Music. Unsurprisingly, Bluetooth and NFC are also on board.
Unfortunately, pricing and availability have not leaked for the Venu SQ 2 yet. However, Garmin released the Venu SQ for US$199.99, so we imagine that its successor will arrive for no less than that price tag. Also, Garmin has now discounted the Venu SQ to US$149.99, implying that the smartwatch could be on the verge of being discontinued.
