New Huawei Watch GT 3 HarmonyOS software update introduces iOS wallet and respiratory health feature
Although the Chinese tech corporation Huawei has just released its brand-new and stylish GT 3 Pro smartwatch on global markets outside China, the company keeps improving the software of the sleek basemodel Huawei Watch GT 3 by adding new and useful features, some of which will be introduced with the upcoming firmware update for May 2022.
According to a report by HuaweiCentral, the changelog of the HarmonyOS software update to version 18.104.22.1688 for example reveals that the Huawei Watch GT 3 will receive a new wallet feature when the smartwatch is connected to an iOS device like the current Apple iPhone 13. Furthermore, the wearable will receive a a new multi-function widget, which allows users to customize their watch face with additional information like steps taken, the current weather or their heart rate.
The software update also lays the groundwork for a new but still experimental respiratory health research app on the Huawei Watch GT 3, which can potentially detect lung infections. Unfortunately, this application is not available when the smartwatch is connected to an iPhone. However, users who are having issues with their wearable can now utilize a new smart diagnosis feature, which checks the functionality of major components like buttons, the touchscreen and microphone of the Huawei Watch GT 3.
Last but not least, Huawei has made some minor improvements to the import and export features, the accuracy of the outdoor motion trajectory as well as the overall system stability. The 71 MB HarmonyOS 22.214.171.1248 software update for the Huawei Watch GT 3 is currently only available for Chinese customers, but in the past, the company has often released the corresponding firmware update for global customers within a few weeks.
