Huawei Watch D: Smartwatch with blood pressure measurement capabilities and ECG analysis is coming to Europe

Huawei has confirmed plans to bring the Watch D to Europe, a smartwatch it introduced last December in China. While the company focused on the Band 7 and Watch FIT 2 yesterday, it neglected to mention the Watch D in various press releases. However, it quietly introduced the smartwatch on its global Twitter channel.

Arguably, the Watch D is arguably the most exciting wearable of those that Huawei has presented because of its ability to monitor blood pressure levels. It remains to be seen what certifications Huawei has received to sell the Watch D in Europe, though. For reference, Huawei has received medical device certification for the Watch D in China, but it would need corresponding certifications from the EU before it could offer blood pressure monitoring with the Watch D in European Union Member States.

Separately, the Watch D supports ECG analysis, up to 7 days of battery life and has over 70 built-in workout modes. As Huawei's graphic below also shows, the Watch D is IP68 certified against dust and water, making it suitable to wear while swimming. Additionally, Huawei equips the Watch D with a 1.64-inch AMOLED display, an Sp02 sensor for monitoring blood oxygen levels and various other health-related features. The Watch D will eventually be available in Europe for €449; prices in other markets remain unknown at this stage, as does availability in Europe.
