Motorola Moto G42: Official marketing renders and details emerge of upcoming budget smartphone
It appears that Motorola plans to release another Moto G series smartphone soon, having unveiled the Moto G71s and Moto G82 recently, among others. As leaked marketing renders show, the device in question is the Moto G42, presumably a cheaper version of the Moto G52 and a successor to last year's Moto G41.
Based on these leaked renders, the Moto G42 has a triple rear-facing camera set up with a 50 MP primary sensor. Also, Motorola has included a centred hole-punch front-facing camera, a downward-firing speaker and a USB Type-C port for charging or data transfer. Potentially, the Moto G42 contains a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well, although the power button does not seem big enough to support one.
Either way, the FCC has confirmed that the Moto G42 will be a 4G smartphone, mirroring the Moto G52. In comparison, the Moto G62 will contain a 5G modem, apparently thanks to the Snapdragon 695 chipset that also underpins the Moto G82. Separately, the Moto G42 carries the codename 'HawaiiPlusOLED22', underlining that it will feature an OLED display. Incidentally, Lenovo already lists this codename on its website. Unfortunately, a release date has not leaked yet, nor has pricing or availability for any markets.
