Honor has finally and unambigously confirmed that successors to its mid-range 60 and 60 Pro smartphones exist. The OEM also now hints that they will launch as a new vlogging and photography specialist line, which, as it is now linked to novel rear camera specs, might be expected.
The company's latest teaser video starts off by overtly revealing off the bat that the 70 series will not look exactly like their 2021 forebears. The phones' rear cameras will still be housed in a hump of the 'angel-eye' variety, although it looks like Honor has taken the time to make the design choice more its own this time around, with flattened edges, metallic accents and a generally cleaner appearance in the newer devices.
This new rear camera module is set into an ostensibly diamond-inspired back panel, on which some of the shooters' better aspects are printed as one might nearly expect in the Android space at this stage. Among this text, one term found under the main AI MATRIX CAMERA legend jumps out: 54MP.
This, then, might be a sign that the 70 Pro or Pro Plus' rumored Sony IMX800 main sensor will move on from the by-now standard 50MP resolution stat to this new figure. It will, apparently, be of 1/1.49 inches in size which, while perhaps not class-leading, may help its inaugural smartphone compete in its sector.
These specs are to be accompanied by one of "1:1.9 ASPH", which may refer to 1 of the freshly-teased 70-series variant's 3 rear-facing lenses. Finally, Honor has now revealed that this phone will be unveiled in full on May 30, 2022 at 19:30 Beijing time (13:30 CET).
