Honor 70 Pro and Honor 70 Pro Plus arrive with MediaTek Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 9000 chipsets
Honor has introduced the 70 Pro and 70 Pro Plus, the first entries in the Honor 70 series. Unveiled in China, the pair have 6.78-inch OLED displays that output at 1200p (2,652 x 1,200), 120 Hz and with 1,920 Hz PWM dimming. Additionally, Honor has equipped both smartphones with a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 100 W fast charging.
Moreover, the Honor 70 Pro and Honor 70 Pro Plus feature the Sony IMX800, a new camera sensor with a 1/1.49-inch optical format, 1.0µm pixels, an f/1.9 aperture and a 54 MP native resolution. Incidentally, both smartphones have 50 MP ultra-wide-angle, 8 MP telephoto (3x optical) and 50 MP front-facing cameras. Apparently, the pair's ultra-wide-angle sensors will also double as macro cameras at a distance of approximately 2.5 cm from a subject.

In fact, Honor has only distinguished the Honor 70 Pro and Honor 70 Pro Plus with the SoCs on which they rely. Specifically, the Honor 70 Pro utilises the Dimensity 8000, a 5 nm chipset that contains ARM Cortex A55 and Cortex A78 CPU cores paired with a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. By contrast, the Dimensity 9000 in the Honor 70 Pro Plus has a single Cortex-X2 core, plus three Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510 CPU cores built on a 4 nm process. Also, the Dimensity 9000 features the Mali-G710 MC10, a more powerful GPU than the Mali-G610 MC6 in the Dimensity 8000.
Unfortunately, Honor has not decided whether it will release the Honor 70 Pro or Honor 70 Pro Plus outside China. In the meantime, the company has confirmed Chinese prices and memory configurations for both models, which are as follows:
- Honor 70 Pro
- 8 GB of RAM/256 GB of storage - CNY 3,699 (~US$552)
- 12 GB of RAM/256 GB of storage - CNY 3,999 (~US$597)
