Honor 70 and 70 Pro design is revealed in full thanks to new online and offline retail leaks
Honor has recently revealed that the 70 series exists and will see a debut at the end of May 2022. Now, it is apparent that the OEM can dispense with a design reveal of any length during the show, as the 60 and 60 Pro successors' looks have now been divulged in greater detail ahead of their launch.
These new leaks also yield some interesting details about the upcoming smartphones' specs ahead of their launch. It now appears the series consists of just 2 variants, the 70 and 70 Pro, the latter of which is the one teased by Honor in their second-last leak.
The vanilla 70 has a similar look, although its angel-eye camera hump is machined into 2 separate raised circles in its case. Nevertheless, it bears the exact same text on its rear panel as the 70 Pro, suggesting both will launch with similar camera arrays, headed by the new 1/1.49-inch Sony IMX800 sensor.
The 70 is also now depicted as having a display of the same centred punch-hole and roughly the same length as that of the 70 Pro. However, it has more of a chin and forehead than its higher-end sibling, which does an impressive job of looking like it has no top bezel at all.
On the other hand, it is clear that both variants have curved screens, an effect more emphatic in the Pro variant. It is also now obvious that they will have 3 colorways (Bright Black, Ink Jade Green and the Streamer Crystal option seen earlier) in common, with an additional "Icelandic Fantasy" gradient exclusive to the 70 and a gold-ish version of Streamer Crystal only available to the 70 Pro.
These new indications are derived from a fairly comprehensive new in-the-wild (or in-the-Chinese-Honor-store, rather) leak posted to Weibo. It is validated by a similar advance listing for the 70 newly added to hihonor.com/cn. The phone can be reserved on this new page, although its full price is not to be revealed until after its launch.
The newly teased details end there, although there are hints of 2 RAM/internal storage configurations incoming for the 70 at least. This vanilla model is now thought to launch with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, with the Dimensity 9000 tipped for its Pro counterpart.
