Xiaomi Band 7: Official teasers finally confirm release date with specifications also disclosed
Xiaomi has started teasing the Band 7 on Weibo, a day after a retailer listed the NFC version of the smartwatch. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Xiaomi has timed the Band 7's release to coincide with the Redmi Note 11T's, which it has already scheduled for May 24. Incidentally, Xiaomi will also announce a new version of the RedmiBook Pro at next Tuesday's event, now powered by AMD Ryzen 6000 silicon.
According to Xiaomi, the Band 7's display has a 25% larger viewing area than its predecessor. In real terms, the Band 7's display measures 1.62-inches across, up from 1.56-inches in the Mi Band 6. Based on earlier rumours, the increase corresponds to a 192 x 490-pixel display, 40 pixels wider and 4 pixels taller than the 152 x 486-pixel panel in the Mi Band 6. Unsurprisingly, the Band 7 retains the AMOLED panel type of its predecessor.
Xiaomi adds that the Band 7 will provide a smoother UI and a better user experience than the Mi Band 6 offers, although it remains to be seen how at this stage. Moreover, Xiaomi has teased that it will release NFC and non-NFC models; the latter is rumoured to launch for CNY 279 (~US$40), matching its predecessor. Potentially, a GPS module could be coming to this year's Xiaomi Band too, but Xiaomi has not confirmed this yet.
