Global release planned for Xiaomi 12T series as possible Xiaomi 11T or Xiaomi 11T Pro successors stops by FCC
Xiaomi has certified a new smartphone with the FCC, prompting speculation that it is a replacement for the Xiaomi 11T series. While the company is rumoured to be launching the Xiaomi 11S series next week, none of the Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro or Xiaomi 12S Ultra are expected to launch globally. The lack of recent certifications for a '2206123G' or '2206123AG' suggests that Xiaomi has decided against releasing the Xiaomi 12S series globally too, with only Chinese models like 2206123SC turning up instead.
As the images below show, Xiaomi has registered the 22071212AG with the FCC, believed to be the Xiaomi 12T by the likes of Xiaomiui. Unfortunately, IMEI checkers do not return model names for either of the IMEIs listed in the FCC's documentation, with databases returning 22071212AG instead. Still, the commission confirms that Xiaomi has developed two memory configurations, both with 8 GB of RAM. Like the Xiaomi 11T series, the 22071212AG will be available with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, likely without microSD card expansion.
Additionally, the FCC reports that the 22071212AG is a 5G smartphone that supports NFC, two features that should be expected of a Xiaomi 11T or Xiaomi 11T Pro successor. Likewise, the FCC highlights that Xiaomi has developed the 22071212AG with Android 12 in mind, unlike recent Redmi Note 11 series releases. Currently, it is unknown when Xiaomi will reveal the Xiaomi 12T series. However, some specifications have leaked, as we have discussed separately.
