Xiaomi 12T Pro: Leak reveals 200 MP camera and other details of Xiaomi's upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phone
While Xiaomi's new 12S series phones with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will never be sold outside China, the company is working on the Xiaomi 12T series for the global market which will feature the refreshed Qualcomm chipset. Information on the Xiaomi 12T Pro has now surfaced, too, well ahead of launch.
As revealed by leaker Chunvn8888, the Xiaomi 12T Pro will arrive with a 200 MP camera. Reports last year suggested the Xiaomi 12 series would be equipped with 200 MP cameras but those turned out to be false. Instead, it appears Xiaomi will look towards the Xiaomi 12T series, with the 12T Pro now expected to be Xiaomi's first phone with a 200 MP. Traditionally, the Pro and vanilla models have featured similar main cameras, so the regular Xiaomi 12T can also be expected to come equipped with a 200 MP sensor.
While the leak says nothing about what 200 MP sensor is on the cards, there simply aren't a lot of options. At the moment, only two 200 smartphone sensors exist: Samsung's ISOCELL HP1 and HP3. The former looks to be a premium sensor with a nominal 1/1.22-inch size and is destined for Motorola's upcoming flagship phone. None of the Xiaomi 12T series' predecessors have featured premium sensors, however, so it's more likely that the sensor in question is the just-released ISOCELL HP3. The 1/1.4-inch sensor is seemingly designed for the mid-range but should still be an upgrade on the 1/1.52-inch HM2 on the Xiaomi 11T phones.
Reportedly, the Xiaomi 12T Pro will sport a 120 Hz AMOLED. There's nothing particularly interesting about that at this point, but the leak claims it could be best in class. Xiaomi has slowly garnered a reputation for implementing excellent displays and that looks set to continue with the 12T series. Lastly, the Xiaomi 12T Pro is expected to cost between 13 million and 15 million VND in Vietnam. Those numbers convert to US$555 and US$640 respectively.
