Xiaomi has introduced the 12 Lite, just over a week after an or Azerbaijani subsidiary revealed the handset. Incidentally, the handset has arrived a few days ahead of its anticipated release. Regardless, there are no surprises, with the Xiaomi 12 Lite positioned to take on mid-range smartphones like the Nothing Phone (1) and the Pixel 6a.
As expected, the Xiaomi 12 Lite relies on a Snapdragon 778G, supported by a 4,300 mAh battery with 67 W fast charging. Additionally, the device has a 6.55-inch display that fits within a 159.3 x 73.7 x 7.29 mm chassis. For reference, the Xiaomi 12 Lite weighs 173 g too and has a matte finish with its Black, Lite Green and Lite Pink colour options.
Moreover, the large panel has a 120 Hz refresh rate with adaptive sync, a 240 Hz touch sampling rate and 950 nits of peak brightness. Xiaomi adds that the AMOLED display operates at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels with a 402 PPI, 1,920 Hz PWM dimming and 100% sRGB colour space coverage. Separately, Xiaomi has included a 32 MP front-facing camera, along with 108 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide and 2 MP macro sensors.
The Xiaomi 12 Lite ships with MIUI 13 based on Android 12 and starts at US$399 with 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2. flash storage. Alternatively, the handset is available with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for US$449, or US$499 if you opt for the 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage option. The Xiaomi 12 Lite is already orderable from Xiaomi authorised channels in multiple markets.
