Xiaomi Laser Projector 1S 2022 model launches with 40 ms low latency gaming mode
Xiaomi has launched a 2022 edition of the Laser Projector 1S. The original 4K device launched in 2020; the newer device is cheaper, with a 1080p resolution. The projector has a 1.27:1 throw ratio and can cast images up to 150-in across. The latest model uses ALPD Laser Display technology for enhanced color and picture quality.
The Laser Projector 1S has a maximum brightness of 2,400 ANSI lumens for a strong image in brighter conditions; for comparison, the 2020 model had a peak brightness of 2,000 ANSI lumens. The gadget has AI image quality enhancement algorithms and can support 4K and 8K decoding. The projector has two built-in 10 W speakers to create a 360° virtual soundstage, with support for Dolby Audio and DTS-HD technologies.
Xiaomi describes the device as “fully intelligent”, automatically adapting its settings to optimize the projection. These tools include auto focus, auto keystone and automatic obstacle avoidance. There are multiple scene modes to choose from, including a gaming mode with 40 ms latency. You can connect to the projector using USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and HDMI eARC (HDMI 2.1) ports.
The projector is part of the Mijia smart home system, allowing you to control the gadget with the Mijia app or Xiao AI voice commands. You can now buy the Xiaomi Laser Projector 1S in China for 5,999 yuan (~US$894); the older model cost 14,999 yuan (~US$2,236) at launch. It is unclear whether or when the device could be available in other markets.
