IKEA SYMFONISK shelf with wireless charger launches with 18 W output
The IKEA SYMFONISK shelf with wireless charger is now available in Europe. The adapter is for the SYMFONISK shelf speaker, a gadget designed in partnership with Sonos; the device is currently discounted in the UK and Australia.
As we previously reported, the shelf has a built-in wireless charging pad that you can use to charge Qi-compatible devices, including smartphones and smartwatches. An LED near the wireless charging station indicates whether or not your device is charging. A USB-C port on the gadget has a maximum power output of 18 W, which you can use to simultaneously charge a second device via a cable up to 3 m (~10 ft) long.
The SYMFONISK speaker is held in place by four screws connecting the two products. The steel shelf attachment measures 306 x 133 x 220 mm (~12.0 x 5.2 x 8.7-in); IKEA says there should be enough room to store your glasses and a book alongside your charging smartphone.
The IKEA SYMFONISK shelf with wireless charger is now available in European countries, including the Netherlands, France and Italy. In the Netherlands, the device retails for €39.99 (~US$41.60); in France, the shelf costs €40.00 (~US$41.62). It is unclear whether or when the gadget will go on sale in other markets. You can choose to purchase the product in black or white.
