Mammotion has demonstrated the LUBA and KUMAR robot lawn mowers at spoga+gafa 2022 in Cologne. This was the company's first public event since the launch of its LUBA Kickstarter campaign, which already has over 2,000 backers.
The LUBA is the brand's first wireless robotic lawn mower, retailing for US$2,499. The device has an all-wheel drive and can cover areas up to 5,000 m² (~53,820 ft²) between charges. Ultrasonic radar gives the robot a 220° field of view for accurate obstacle avoidance.
The KUMAR is a version of the robot lawn mower geared towards commercial use, designed to mow large lawns, parks or river embankments. The device is fitted with a GPS-RTK satellite positioning system, and you can set the virtual boundary in the accompanying smartphone app. Four ultrasonic radars enable the robot to detect and avoid fallen branches, pets and pedestrians.
The robot can mow up to 12,000 m² (~129,167 ft²) between charges thanks to two 24 Ah batteries, and Mammotion claims that the device is seven times cheaper to run than a regular fuel mower. The company is expected to sell both robot lawn mowers via Amazon. However, a general sale date has not been given.
