According to word on the grapevine, Xiaomi will bring its recently released Redmi K50 Extreme Edition to the global market as the Xiaomi 12T Pro. It appears, however, that the phone will have one major difference, at least if an alleged live image is anything to go by.
Earlier this morning, an image surfaced in the wild purportedly showing off the Xiaomi 12T Pro in the flesh for the first time. The image only shows the camera module of the phone, though, but manages to confirm the presence of a 200 MP main camera. Said camera module is identical to that of the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, so it does look likely that the depicted smartphone is the Xiaomi 12T Pro as alleged.
The identity of that 200 MP camera remains unknown, however. Only two such CMOS sensors exist at the moment: the ISOCELL HP1 on the just-released Moto X30 Pro, and the ISOCELL HP3 that's yet to feature on any smartphone. That said, though, it appears Xiaomi tested the HP1 on the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition before finally ditching it in favor of the 108 MP ISOCELL HM6. That could mean the Xiaomi 12T Pro gets equipped with the 1/1.22-inch HP1.
Other than the switch from the 108 MP camera on the Redmi K50 Extreme to a 200 MP shooter, it seems the Xiaomi 12T Pro will retain other specifications of the China-only Redmi device, including a 6.67-inch 1.5K 120 Hz AMOLED, 5000 mAh battery, 120 W charging, and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. A September launch is expected.
