Xiaomi has taken another step in preparing to release the Xiaomi 12T series. Expected to feature the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro, the latter has now appeared on the Google Play Console with some familiar specifications. All in all, the Xiaomi 12T Pro should be a step up from the Xiaomi 11T Pro.

It seems that Xiaomi is on the verge of announcing the Xiaomi 12T series, which includes the Xiaomi 12T Pro. To recap, only just over a week has passed since Phoneandroid revealed a hands-on photo with what they claim was the Xiaomi 12T Pro. A few days earlier, leakers shared pricing and specifications for the Xiaomi 12T Pro, as well as for the Xiaomi 12T. As we have discussed previously, it seemed that the Xiaomi 12T Pro would be a re-badged Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, a smartphone launched earlier this month and is also referred to as the Redmi K50 Ultra.

A recent Google Play Console listing underlines this assertion. Perhaps predictably, Xiaomi has registered the Xiaomi 12T Pro running Android 12, rather than the newer Android 13. While Xiaomi has public beta testing for MIUI based on Android 13, releasing the Xiaomi 12T series on Android 12 allows the company to effectively provide a year's less software support while claiming that the pair will receive three year's OS updates.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 12T Pro has 12 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, currently Qualcomm's flagship smartphone SoC before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 arrives later this year. As far as we can tell, Xiaomi has not overclocked the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 in the Xiaomi 12T Pro, either. Also, the Google Play Console reports that the Xiaomi 12T Pro's display resolves at 2,712 x 1,220 pixels with a 480 DPI pixel density. Incidentally, this is the same resolution as the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, which has a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate.

Purportedly, the Xiaomi 12T Pro will feature a 200 MP primary camera though, not the 108 MP one found in the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition. Currently, the Xiaomi 12T series is expected to debut in September, with a €849 starting price for the Xiaomi 12T Pro. If the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition is anything to go by, the Xiaomi 12T Pro should be available with 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB of non-expandable storage.
