Xiaomi opens MIUI Beta for Android 13 global testing with Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro builds

Google has now published its first stable Android 13 build, which has landed on the Pixel 4 through Pixel 6 series. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has announced its MIUI Beta program for Android 13, presumably based on Google's inaugural public build. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed whether this will be the case. Also, Xiaomi has included a few caveats at this stage, for one reason or another.

Specifically, MIUI Beta based on Android 13 is only available on the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Evidently, Xiaomi does not deem the Xiaomi 12X to be of equal importance, despite its simultaneous release alongside the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. For reference, Xiaomi maintains all three smartphones on different development branches, unlike the older Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro. Hence, Xiaomi has developed distinct builds for the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro.

Additionally, Xiaomi stresses that Indian owners of either the Xiaomi 12 or the Xiaomi 12 Pro cannot participate in the beta program. For that to be possible, Xiaomi would need to make the Xiaomi Community accessible in India. As such, Xiaomi has decided to restrict MIUI Beta testing to its Global ROM channel. Also, Xiaomi stresses the following points:

• Please note, we do not send any recruitment notices to you after you have applied. All notices for OTA release will be given at Telegram Channel.
• To ensure you’re able to receive OTA update, please make sure your device is on MIUI Global Stable ROM when applying for the recruitment.
• Fill in all the required details correctly and carefully especially your Mi Account.
• Please Backup your data before updating [Mandatory].
• Kindly fill in all the details truly.
• Note: All the application will be reviewed and then permission will be granted
• Should have and use a mentioned smartphone; can actively participate in the test, feedback, and suggestions.
• The phone should be logged in with the same ID which he/she has filled in the recruitment form.
• Should have high tolerance for issues, willing to cooperate with the engineers about the issues with detailed information.
• Have the ability to recover phone when flashing fails and willing to take risks for failed updates.
• Applicants should be 18 years old or older.

Moreover, Xiaomi claims to only be recruiting 200 users on a first-come, first-served basis.
