Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro: Premium smartwatch previewed with new features
Xiaomi has begun teasing the Watch S1 Pro, another device that it will unveil on August 11 during CEO Lei Jun's annual speech. As we have reported separately, another device will be the MIX Fold 2, Xiaomi's first foldable since last year's Mi MIX Fold. As the smartwatch's name implies, it will be a more advanced version of the Watch S1 that debuted in December 2021. Incidentally, Xiaomi also sells the Watch S1 Active, with which the Watch S1 Pro shares hardly any design features.
Instead, the Watch S1 Pro resembles a modified Watch S1. Specifically, Xiaomi has swapped the dual button array from the Watch S1 for what appears to be a digital crown and a button that sits nearly flush with the Watch S1 Pro's body. In other words, Xiaomi has moved towards adopting Apple's button layout, albeit with a round chassis design, rather than a squircle one. Potentially, the digital crown could be another button, although its toothed finish suggests that it is there for rotating, not pressing.
Regardless, it seems that the Watch S1 Pro has slimmer display bezels than the Watch S1 too. Similarly, Xiaomi has used a thinner case for the Watch S1 Pro than it does with the Watch S1. Based on early teasers, Xiaomi will offer the Watch S1 Pro in three colour options. Unfortunately, it remains unclear at this stage whether Xiaomi plans to release the Watch S1 Pro globally. If the Watch S1 and Watch S1 Active are anything to go by, it could be a few months before the Watch S1 Pro leaves China, which Xiaomi could time with the Xiaomi 12T series' global launch.
