Xiaomi has started testing Android 13 and MIUI 13.1 builds on the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, two of its recent flagship smartphones. Now usurped by the Xiaomi 12S series in China, the pair have both received V13.1.22.7.28.DEV, with the 'DEV' suffix denoting that they are developer builds. If past experience is anything to go by, these builds can only be installed on devices that have been enrolled on MIUI's beta program in China.
Still, Adimorah Blog has posted download links for both builds, should you wish to try installing them on your device. Listed below, the builds may fail to install and could be linked to IMEI numbers:
- Xiaomi 12: V13.1.22.7.28.DEV
- Xiaomi 12 Pro: V13.1.22.7.28.DEV
Please note both builds are over 5 GB downloads. Allegedly, Xiaomi has based these builds on Android 13 Beta 3, the point at which Google reached Platform Stability. Incidentally, Google has since released Android 13 Beta 4 and several iterative updates. However, these builds only contained bug fixes, most of which were specific to Pixel series smartphones.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not confirmed the existence of MIUI 13.1 yet. While there had been signs that it was working towards releasing MIUI 14, that could well be on track for the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series instead. In the meantime, some handsets may receive Android 13 via MIUI 13.1. Presumably, Xiaomi will clarify the state of MIUI when it announces its Android 13 public beta program within the next month or so.
