Xiaomi has now officially beaten its Android OEM rivals to the launch of the world's first Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-powered flagship smartphone. Motorola has hit back with a teaser asserting that its upcoming counterpart, the X30 Pro, will launch with a main camera sensor that will outdo that of the new 12S Pro in terms of both size and resolution.

Xiaomi's latest 12S series is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 (or 8+ Gen 1) processor, and has rear cameras co-developed with Leica on top of that. Therefore, it seems to have won the late-2022 Android flagship smartphone game out of the gate (on paper, at least).

However, Motorola has responded with a new Weibo post seeking to remind us that its Moto X30 Pro might have something to give it the edge on its impending launch.

The OEM's latest poster reveals a potentially tantalizing X30 Pro detail, which is that its main camera sensor will be 1/1.22 inches in size. This makes it much larger than many others found on the market - that of the 12S Pro included.

Then again, this spec cannot beat the new, sought-after 1-inch stat of the 12S Ultra. Nevertheless, the slightly smaller footprint matches that of Samsung's ISOCELL HP1 - in other words, Motorola may have just indirectly confirmed that the X30 Pro is indeed its long-touted world-first 200MP-camera smartphone.

Therefore, an imminent debut for this potentially ground-breaking premium smartphone is now even more likely to be on the cards.

The Motorola Edge+ 2022 is now avaialble on Amazon.
