Although it’s unlikely the Xiaomi Mi 12 series will make any kind of official appearance before December 2021 or January 2022 that hasn’t stopped the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station from sharing smartphone details that have been associated with Xiaomi’s future flagship range. In this case, reports out of China have linked the latest information with a possible Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra smartphone.
It’s probable that Xiaomi will produce a Mi 12 Ultra device considering the positive reception that greeted the Mi 11 Ultra smartphone. Unsurprisingly, such a high-end flagship will sport the most-powerful components available at the time, which in terms of SoC could be the Snapdragon 895 (arguably the aforementioned SM8450 platform).
Digital Chat Station has mentioned this SoC in connection with a smartphone that will come with a 200 MP main camera, and this has been reported on before in regard to a 1-inch sensor coming from Samsung. A slightly older post from the same source detailed a 192 MP sensor that could utilize 16-in-1 pixel binning for detailed 12 MP images.
MyDrivers has reasoned that this information could correlate specifically with a Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra because of the physical size of the sensors. The amount of interior space required to fit the camera units would restrict other components, which would not be ideal for the regular Mi 12 smartphone lineup but could be included with the Ultra variant to help it stand out.
