Similar to Black Friday, retail shops in China offer massive sales on June 18 every year, with the date proudly referred to as 6.18 by Chinese netizens. 6.18 was held in typical fashion last week, and smartphone sales data for that day have now been revealed—the iPhone 13 again flexing its muscles as the best-selling smartphone around the world.
A sales graphic making its way across Chinese social media shows the iPhone 13 as the undisputed winner of 6.18, with 2.82 million units of the Apple device being sold on that date. It's a similar case outside China, too, as CounterPoint Research's latest report also shows the iPhone 13 as the best-selling smartphone in the world for April.
The Redmi K50 comes in a shockingly distant second on the list, with 341,000 units moved. Another Xiaomi device, the Xiaomi 12X, is third with 234,000 units sold. Xiaomi utterly dominates the list, even, as, after the iPhone 13 in first place, the company takes up the next nine spots to round up the top ten. That said, though, this list is a perfect example of quality being worth more than quantity: all of Xiaomi's devices on the list total up to 1.92 million units—a far cry from the iPhone 13's 2.82 million.
