Xiaomi releases Band 7 Pro firmware update with various improvements and optimisations
Xiaomi has released an update to the Band 7 Pro, barely any time after the company announced the smartwatch. To recap, the Band 7 Pro arrived a few weeks after Smart Band 7, which Xiaomi has since started selling globally. While the pair belong to the same series, the Band 7 Pro contains a few more features than the Smart Band 7. Also, the pair hardly look like each other for some reason.
Regardless, the Band 7 Pro has received firmware 1.2.22, which makes six changes from the device's launch software. As the screenshot below shows, Xiaomi has enabled WeChat on the Band 7 Pro, a feature that Huawei recently introduced on the Band 7. Additionally, the Band 7 Pro can now automatically detect when you are using an elliptical machine, a rowing machine or a skipping rope. Moreover, Xiaomi claims to have optimised several health monitoring functions, such as blood oxygen, heart rate and sleep.
Separately, firmware 1.2.22 optimises the device's Bluetooth disconnection reminder, as well as adding more watch faces to download. Finally, Xiaomi now allows people to edit some of the complications on the Band 7 Pro's default dials. At launch, Xiaomi sells the Band 7 Pro in China for CNY 399 (~US$60), making it marginally more expensive than the Smart Band 7 Pro with NFC. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not confirmed whether it plans to launch the Band 7 Pro globally yet.
