Garmin Forerunner 955 series receives software version 11.12 with bug fixes and improvements
Garmin has released the first stable software update for the Forerunner 955, a smartwatch series that the company introduced alongside the Forerunner 255. Released last month in multiple versions, the Forerunner 955 has a 1.3-inch transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display, a 46.5 mm case, 5 ATM water resistance and up to 20 days of battery life if you opt for the solar-powered model.
Rolling out as software version 11.12, the Forerunner 955 series' inaugural update is available to download through the Garmin Express desktop program or the Garmin Connect Mobile app. For reference, Garmin is issuing the update in batches; numerous people on Garmin's forums report that neither Garmin Express nor Garmin Connect shows that software version 11.12 is ready to download. As it stands, Garmin reports that the rollout has only reached 10% completion.
Regardless, Garmin claims to have improved audio dialect selection, data screen drawing and touch handling with software version 11.12. Additionally, this month's update should address issues with the 'After Sunset' backlight setting and Cycling VO2 Max values. Predictably, Garmin states that it has bundled 'various other bug fixes and improvements', albeit without stating what these are. Unfortunately, Garmin has not confirmed when it will complete the new software rollout yet.
