Garmin has launched the HRM-Pro Plus, a heart rate strap for when you work out. The gadget passes real-time heart rate data to compatible devices, equipment or apps. The dual transmission monitor uses ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy technologies allow fast data transfer.
For example, you could pair the device to a Garmin smartwatch, such as the Fenix 6X, to see how your pace and distance affect your heart rate. You can also use the strap to monitor your running dynamics, such as vertical oscillation, ground contact time and stride length. This data could help you to improve your form; however, this feature requires a compatible Garmin smartwatch.
The HRM-Pro Plus can also help you to capture your step count, calories burned and intensity minutes without needing to wear your watch. If you are out of range of your device, the data can be stored on the strap and sent to your compatible Garmin gadget later.
The battery is expected to last for up to one year and Garmin claims that it is easy to replace, hidden behind a tool-free door. The gadget has a lightweight, compact heart rate module and a comfortable strap. You can buy the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus for US$129.99.
