The Garmin Edge Explore 2 bicycle computer has been launched. You can use the device for turn-by-turn GPS navigation to ensure you do not get lost. Plus, you can create courses with accompanying apps, such as Garmin Connect or Strava. The gadget comes with preset road, off-road and indoor activity profiles and various map views, which can highlight popular routes.
The Edge Explore 2 has up to 16 hours of battery life with regular use or 24 hours in battery saver mode. The gadget can also tell you how far through an ascent you are to help you pace yourself. If you attached the computer to a compatible e-bike, you could view information such as battery level, range and assistance setting on the display.
An incident detection feature will automatically send a message to a pre-chosen emergency contact if the device thinks you have been in an accident. The Garmin Edge Power Mount accessory allows you to charge the Edge Explore 2 while you ride. The device is also compatible with several other Garmin bike computer models, including the Edge 1040 series.
You can now buy the Garmin Edge Explore 2 for US$299.99. Alternatively, you can opt for a bundle including the computer and the Garmin Edge Power Mount accessory for US$399.99; this is expected to ship in 5 to 8 weeks.
