Layer Design Pendler unusual concept e-bike unveiled with modular accessories
Layer Design has unveiled a new concept e-bike, the Pendler. The company has designed the urban pedelec for commuters as a safer, more practical alternative to many e-bikes on the market.
The pedelec is powered by a 45 Nm rear hub motor, with a top speed of 25 kph (~16 mph). A removable 250 Wh battery provides up to 70 km (~43 miles) range on a single charge. The Pendler has a compact wheelbase and 20-in wheels to make it easier to store. While the bike’s frame doesn’t fold, the pedals and handlebars do, which also make it simpler to transport or store.
The Pendler comes with modular accessories to adapt the bike for various situations. For example, you can attach shopping and luggage carrying racks to bring the model closer to a cargo bike. Plus, a phone mount can be attached to the handlebars, allowing you to use your device for directions on the go.
The bike has a U-shaped frame with a low step-through, giving the pedelec a unique silhouette. Fitted to the frame are front and rear lights, and indicator lights are built into the handlebars. The Layer Design Pendler e-bike has been revealed as a concept; it is unclear if the company plans to release the electric bicycle in the future.
