Shell RIDE new electric scooters and bikes to join SR-5S e-scooter with 20 mph top speed
The Shell RIDE SR-5S e-scooter is an electric vehicle from Lotus International Company. Rather than producing the device itself, Shell has licensed its name to the US manufacturer. The scooter is the first e-mobility product from the brand, with a broader range expected.
The Shell e-Scooter is powered by a front-wheel 350 W motor, providing a top speed of 20 mph (~32 kph). The SR-5S has three speed modes and a cruise control setting. The scooter can travel for up to 20 miles (~32 km) on a single charge, thanks to a 36 V battery. The battery takes around 4.5 hours to charge fully. Other features of the scooter include dual braking, 8.5-in semi-pneumatic tires and a LED headlight.
You can fold the SR-5S, making it easier to carry and store. The scooter weighs 30.4 lbs (~13.8 kg) and can support loads up to 220 lbs (~100 kg). You can control the scooter’s settings, such as speed mode and lighting modes, in the accompanying Shell RIDE app. You can buy the Shell RIDE SR-5S e-scooter for US$699.99; the product is currently discounted to US$529.99.
The company is developing two new e-scooters to add to its range; the paired back SR-4S will be slower than the SR5-5S, costing US$499.99. A more versatile SR-6S model with a removable battery pack will retail for US$799.99. Shell RIDE e-bikes are also on the way, expected to start from US$1,199.99.
