Trek FX+ urban electric bicycle arrives weighing 40 lbs with lower price
The Trek FX+ is a new city e-bicycle from the brand. The practical pedelec has been designed for everyday urban riding, featuring lights, a kickstand, fenders and a rear rack for carrying your bags.
A rear G2 hub motor provides a top speed of 20 mph (~32 kph) with a natural feel thanks to a torque sensor in the bottom bracket. Three assistance levels are available, which you can switch between using built-in handlebar controls. A 250 Wh internal battery delivers up to 35 miles (~56 km) range; you can double this to 70 miles (~113 km) with a range extender.
Also fitted to the FX+ are a Shimano Altus M2010 nine-speed shifter and Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. The company claims the FX+ is its lightest city e-bike, weighing ~40.13 lbs (~18.20 kg). The pedelec can support a payload of 300 lbs (~136 kg), including the bike, rider and cargo. This new model is an electric-assist version of Trek’s most popular hybrid bicycle, the FX.
Two variants are available, the FX+ 2 and the FX+ 2 Stagger; the difference between the bicycles is the frame, with the Stagger having a low step-through rather than a stepover. You can buy the FX+ 2 and the FX+ 2 Stagger for US$2,499.99 as some of Trek’s cheaper urban e-bike models. Various colors are on offer, such as black, blue, red and teal.
