Fitbit has issued release notes for its latest update for the Charge 5. Version 1.171.50 includes the “Find Phone” tool, similar to Apple’s Find My Phone feature; the aid was previously only available on Fitbit smartwatches. You can use the feature to generate a loud noise on your paired smartphone to help locate the device.
It’s worth noting that the tool only works when the missing phone must be turned on, with Bluetooth activated, the Fitbit app running in the background, and be within 30 ft (~10 m) of your Charge 5. You can find the tool between the Screen Wake and Water Lock features, accessed via a swipe down from the home screen. Also included in the update are a range of new clock faces, which you can access via the Fitbit Gallery in the Fitbit app.
A recently discovered battery drain issue, spotted by Fitbit customers during GPS-enabled exercises, has reportedly been fixed with version 1.171.50. Plus, the published notes suggest a range of other bug fixes and improvements have been made; it’s not currently clear if this includes a fix for the phone connectivity problems some Charge 5 users have come up against. The version 1.171.50 update is also rolling out to the Fitbit Luxe, bringing the same tools to the device.
