Rumor | Apple's AirPods Pro 2 will miss out on body-temperature monitoring, while the Watch Series 8 might not
According to the blog 52Audio, the current AirPods Pro will be succeeded by upgraded versions capable of doubling as health-tracking accessories, thanks to the integration of body-temperature and heart-rate sensors into their classic stemmed form-factor.
Those claims might seem outlandish, but get less so as there are other TWS earbuds with at least 1 of those advanced features on the market already. However, the Bloomberg contributor Mark Gurman has now poured cold water on the idea of new AirPods Pro that will join them in 2022.
Apple does have that kind of technology in mind, but is not about to release it this year, according to Gurman at least. That may not matter so much to Watch fans, however, as body-temperature tracking for smartwatches from Cupertino is apparently ready to go, and will be a Series 8 upgrade.
The upcoming wearable may even be capable of predicting illness (which, as research has shown, is indeed possible in modern-day wearables) and can alert the user accordingly, perhaps even before they start to feel unwell. Should this be the case, this may be the latest marquee feature in the upcoming Watch Series 8.
