The Apple Watch Series 8 could look an awful lot like its predecessors, if a CAD-based render is correct. Allegedly, Apple is only planning on making one visible change for its next-generation smartwatch, with no flat design to be seen.

When Apple launched the Watch Series 7 in September, its design did not live up to expectations. According to Jon Prosser, he had seen prototypes with a flatter design, rather than the curved design on which Apple continues to rely. The Watch Series 7 has narrower display bezels than its predecessors, but it retains the overall look of the Apple Watch dating to the Watch Series 4.

Supposedly, manufacturing issues caused Apple to switch from Prosser's leaked design, with Apple postponing a redesign until 2022. However, an initial leak from @LeaksApplePro suggests that this will not be the case. As the photo above shows, the Watch Series 8 still has the same rounded chassis, but with two speaker grilles instead of one.

Reputedly, @LeaksApplePro received this information from a source that provided CAD files and images. Apparently, last year's Apple Watch prototype had the same speaker design as above, implying that Apple is considering improving its smartwatches' speaker and microphone quality.

Apple is not expected to reveal the Watch Series 8 until late 2022. Hence, a lot could change between now and then, so we would not take this design as guaranteed just yet.
