Apple is once again slated to launch three kinds of Watch in 2022
The successor to the Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to be a significant incoming upgrade, rumored as it is to introduce a considerably new case with flat edges, so as to match the probable iPhone 14 series. Furthermore, the "Series 8" is now said to be the generation to get Apple's latest health-tracking sensors, which may be hotly-anticipated additions by the time of its release.
On that note, the Cupertino giant is now expected to launch the 8th-gen Watch in "fall 2022". However, new bells and whistles notwithstanding, it might be overshadowed by a variant of the same based on its sheer novelty alone.
This potential new Apple Watch type is the mysterious "extreme" version. Ming-Chi Kuo's latest research note allegedly asserting that it is indeed on the way, possibly debuting alongside the Series 8.
Kuo did not share much more detail on the putative "Apple Watch Explorer Edition", although it is already believed that it might launch with a new ruggedized case that might pit the new product against other smartwatches from brands such as Casio. This is what might be intended to set it apart from the 'vanilla' Watch for specific, sporty use-cases.
Finally, an Apple Watch SE 2 is now also on the cards for late 2022, according to Kuo. This one might also be capable of competing with the main Series 8, as even Apple touts its predecessor as a better option for applications such as enhanced senior care.
All of these new devices might be introduced at around the same time as the long-awaited AirPods Pro 2, which may or may not launch with enhanced anti-loss features.
