ASUS ROG Phone 6: Chinese regulatory body confirms design, specifications and a potential camera upgrade
ASUS has certified the ROG Phone 6 in China, only a few days after it started teasing the upcoming gaming smartphone. Registered with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), ASUS has already confirmed that the ROG Phone 6 will debut on July 5. Incidentally, the company has hinted that the smartphone will feature superior cooling than its predecessor, along with a 165 Hz display.
According to the MIIT listing, the ROG Phone 6 has the same footprint as its predecessor. Hence, it measures 172.8 x 77.3 x 10.3 mm and weighs 239 g. Additionally, the ROG Phone 6 has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, meaning that it will also feature the same sized bezels as the ROG Phone 5. The ROG Phone 6 has a 5,850 mAh battery that supports 65 W fast charging, too.
Moreover, the ROG Phone 6 has a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, up to 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. Potentially, this model is the successor to the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, which has the same memory configuration. In comparison, the ROG Phone 5 comes with up to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
Separately, the ROG Phone 6 has four cameras like all ROG Phone 5 models. The MIIT listing mentions that the ROG Phone 6 supports 5x optical zoom, which would be quite the upgrade from the 5 MP macro camera in the ROG Phone 5. Unfortunately, prices for the ROG Phone 6 have not leaked yet for any market.
