Asus releases the ROG Phone 5S gaming flagship smartphones to the European market
Asus announced the ROG Phone 5S and 5S Pro as replacements for their non-S counterparts earlier in 2021. They have not been available in many markets since then, however. Then again, the OEM has now partially addressed this situation with a launch for the new flagship mobile gaming series in the European market.
The 5S line's offerings in terms of top-end Android performance is arguably a little less convoluted than that of the "original" successors to 2020's ROG Phone 3, in truth. The newer Snapdragon 888-powered devices consisted of vanilla, Pro and Ultimate variants, some of which supported interesting rear-facing AniMe Matrix-like secondary displays and some of which did not.
The ROG Phone 5S and 5S Pro, on the other hand, both exhibit Matrix displays on their rear panels. The 5S Pro mainly distinguishes itself through its 18GB of RAM, paired with 512GB of internal storage. It is now priced at €1,299 (~US$1,500) on Asus' eStore, which ships to continental European countries such as Germany from now. The 12GB 5S, on the other hand, goes for €999 (~US$1,154), or €1,099 (~US$1.270) for a 16GB SKU.
