The well-known leaker Evan Blass has dropped hints that Asus plans to add a 16-inch variant to its growing, yet still innovative, ROG Zephyrus Duo line of gaming laptops. Now, MyLaptopGuide purports to flesh this tip out with more specs and details on the allegedly upcoming upgrade.
The blog now asserts that it will be quite the upgrade, too, due to its possession of a Ryzen 9 6900HX platform from AMD and all. The next-gen processor is now slated to be accompanied by RTX 3080 Ti graphics in the Zephyrus Duo 16.
According to a new Bluetooth SIG leak, the name is "ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 GX650", to be more exact - which, as the Duo 15 line is also known as Asus GX55x, is plausible enough. The wireless connectivity authority has approved 3 variants (GX650RX, GX650RW and GX650RM) to use Bluetooth 5.1.
One of these SKUs might be the extravagant top-end 48GB RAM/8TB SSD configuration tipped by MyLaptopGuide for the Duo 16, although the laptop may also have more familiar options like 16GB/1TB as well.
Finally, the blog does not say whether this new size of ROG Zephyrus Duo gets a new aspect ratio or not, although it does now claim that at least 1 of its screens will have a definitely respectable 300Hz refresh rate. Then again, despite their tantalizing nature, these putative next-gen Asus gaming details still require a grain of salt.
