ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 incoming with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and DDR5 RAM
The FCC has certified ASUS' next ROG Strix Scar 15, a laptop that we reviewed earlier this year. While the body has not published photos of the upcoming laptop, it has published information relating to the position of regulatory labels. As a result, the FCC has leaked the Scar 15's bottom case, embedded below.
The document also confirms that the next Scar 15 is the G533Z. According to information obtained by MyLaptopGuide, the G533Z will launch with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, both unreleased parts. The website adds that the Ryzen 9 6900HX has eight cores, supports Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) and utilises AMD's Zen 3+ architecture. Supposedly, the APU contains an RDNA 2-based GPU too and will debut with 32 GB of DDR5 RAM clocked at 4,800 MHz.
Based on previous rumours, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti relies on NVIDIA's GA103S GPU, which has 7,424 CUDA cores, 18% more than the equivalent GeForce RTX 3080. The GPU is thought to feature 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM as well.
ASUS is expected to reveal the ROG Strix Scar 15 G533Z in January at CES 2022. The laptop should be available with a 165 Hz and QHD display too, along with a 1 TB SSD.
