The Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro and ROG Phone 6 are now official with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, 6,000 mAh battery, 50 MP + 13 MP rear cameras and two USB-C ports. The base ROG Phone 6 will retail at €999 (US$1,027) and the ROG Phone 6 Pro at €1,299 (US$1,337).

The Asus ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro have been officially announced after weeks of teasers and leaks. Like their previous generation counterparts, the ROG Phone 5 and ROG Phone 5 Pro, both devices are practically identical, with the latter offering more memory and some extra gamer bling. Asus has also launched two new accessories tailor-made for the phones: the AeroActive Cooler 6 and ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad.

As foretold earlier, the Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro and ROG Phone 6 pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood. Multiple gaming benchmarks have confirmed that the SoC is remarkably more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 thanks to higher clocks on the CPU and GPU. The vanilla ROG Phone 6 offers up to 16 GB of RAM, whereas the ROG Phone 6 Pro ups that to 18 GB. Storage on both variants maxes out at 512 GB, with no expandability option via an SD card slot.

The Asus ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ (2,448 x 1,080) panel with a refresh rate of 165 Hz, a touch sampling rate of 720 Hz, 800 nits peak brightness, 111.23% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, 150.89%, of the sRGB colour gamut, 23 ms touch latency and a layer of 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. Asus has also thrown in a dedicated Pixelworks i6 Processor for extra visual fidelity.

Gaming phones aren't renowned for their camera prowess. The Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro and ROG Phone 6 keeps only the essentials with a 50MP SONY IMX766 primary sensor and 13MP ultra-wide/macro lens. A 12 MP sensor handles selfies and video calls. Video recording options include 8K 24 FPS, 4K 60 FPS and 1080p 120 FPS.

Connectivity options on the Asus ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, two USB Type-C ports and NFC. It draws power from two 3,000 mAh batteries arranged in a dual-cell configuration (6,000 mAh total), which supports 65W fast charging. At the back, the ROG Phone 6 Pro offers a programmable ROG Vision colour PMOLED display, while the ROG Phone 6 downgrades that to an RGB logo.

The Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro (18 GB RAM/512 GB storage) will cost €1,299 (US$1,337) and hit shelves at the end of August 2022. The base ROG Phone 6 variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage will retail at €999 (US$1,027) at the beginning of August 2022. For €1,149 (US$1,182), one can upgrade the memory and storage to 16 GB and 512 GB, respectively.
