AYA NEO has unveiled plenty of products of late, most recently with the NEXT 2. Additionally, the company brought the AIR series to Indiegogo late last month, where it started at US$499 with AMD Barcelo APUs. A month earlier, AYA NEO teased the SLIDE, a gaming handheld with a slide-up display like the GPD Win 3. Incidentally, there is also an AYA NEO FLIP, another gaming handheld but one with a flip-up display.
Subsequently, AYA NEO showcased a SLIDE prototype during a product sharing session. Shown in the video below, this appears to be the first time that AYA NEO has actually offered a hands-on look at the SLIDE. As far as we can tell, this is a non-functional device, with a dummy display and a printed image. However, the company has highlighted the device's design, which also contains a five-row keyboard and an Xbox controller-style gamepad layout.
Unsurprisingly, the AYA NEO SLIDE has a manual sliding mechanism, albeit one that seems to be supported by springs for a snapback feeling when closing it. Additionally, the device looks thicker than other AYA NEO products, presumably because it cannot push all the device's internals against the display like in conventional gaming handhelds. The display itself has relatively thin bezels too, unlike other AYA NEO devices.
For reference, the AYA NEO SLIDE will launch with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU and LPDDR5-6400 RAM. Not only will the Ryzen 7 6800U deliver CPU performance gains on previous AMD Ryzen-equipped AYA NEO machines, its Radeon 680M iGPU should be more powerful than any Iris Xe and Radeon RX Vega solutions to date. Currently, AYA NEO is expected to launch the SLIDE at the end of 2022.
